Really enjoyed our stay - beautiful cottage. Had a great walk to Lacy's Caves and Long Meg (pdf 1.25 MB). The boys enjoyed the local play area. G & S B Manchester (Ref: Langriggs Cottage February 2012)
Wonderful relaxed stay in a perfect cottage. Very clean and peaceful surroundings. Loved the area, recommend Ullswater Steamers and lovely day in Keswick. R & G Warwickshire (Ref: Mickledale February 2012)
Another enjoyable stay at Wetheral Cottages. Wonderful scenery, due to the snow. Thank you. J & C P Norfolk (Ref: Windale Cottage February 2012)
Enjoyed a snowy weekend in this lovely cottage. It's equipped with everything we needed and more. Had a very good steak in the local pub and the walks nearby are cracking. Very relaxing weekend. Thank you. L & S West Yorkshire (ref: Windale Cottage February 2012)
Thank you for a really enjoyable 10 days - the cottage has been perfect as has the fishing on the River Eden. Thanks to Clive Mitchelhill (Border Game Angling) who instructed and guided for a few days - only wish I could stay longer - Hope to be back for the Salmon Season! Many thanks! N.M. Returning here again after a 20 year break, the cottages are even better now than we remember ---- NOTHING ---- has spoilt our weekend. Garth is very comfartable, everything here we could wish for. Mr & Mrs T & Mr & Mrs T. Nottingham (Ref: Garth Cottage October 2011 (though I think it was November !! John)) John apologise for the clerical error with your reservation date and pleased, as well as relived, all turned out well!!
We've loved the cottage and would happily come again. It's been great for the kiddie winks and the teens and the adults, altogether a great place and the ponies just added to the picturesque. We would all happily come again. "The Northwest Lot" (Ref: Garth Cottage October 2011)
Lovely cottage, beautiful surroundings. We would certainly come back. Just a shame we didn't book longer. Thank you. G, S & S M, Rawtenstall ( High Croft Cottage - October 2011)
It's really Oct 1st, but we don't want the holiday to finish! Another really good holiday over (and another birthday) in fantastic surroundings. Really hot and sunny, which made it so much nicer to get around. D & WC and MP, Bingley (High Croft Cottage - Sep/Oct 2011)
A thoroughly enjoyable fortnight, weather mixed but it has not kept us in. Can really recommend "The Highland Drove Pub" locally for food. If you need a "cheap and cheerful, homecooked" meal the "Brief Encounter Cafe" at Langwathby Station is the place! Have enjoyed visiting Appleby, Alston, Carlisle and many villages with interesting ancient churches. Our highlights were the boat trip on Ullswater and Aira Force which we found in full spate. Two weeks is not enough time here! Thank you for the fiendly welcome. E & C, A Devon (Ref: Windale Cottage September 2011)
Thank you once again for another lovely holiday. Another lovely stop in the Eden Valley and yet another comfortable cottage. Bike ride you found us was great - the uphill struggle was worth the downhill fun! Thank you for your kindness hope to see you soon. C, J, A & S B Shropshire (Ref: Garth Cottage August 2011)
Excellent cottage, V. comfortable. Had quite a relaxing holiday but with plenty to do. Village Pub is great. Enjoyed the "Potfest", pupets and many walks. S & P W. Yorkshire (Ref: Mickledale July 2011)
Thank you for such a warm welcome to Windale Cottage: a cosy cottage for our short break. The toffee was much appreciated and an extra thank you for the cot in the bedroom. We'd recommend Abbots Lodge for beautiful Jersey Ice-cream (& play park) - Walby Farm Park (Nr Carlisle) for wet weather with whingy children (animals, parks & soft play with great slides for the adults too!) Also a small cafe at Ambleside waterfront (Choc-dipped ice cream?) did FABULOUS! cherry pie. Bowness too busy to be enjoyable - will stick to Ullswater and Pooley Bridge next time. Heading to the Village Bakery for breakfast on our way home. Thanks again! J, B, V & P M Chester-le-street (ref: Windale August 2011)
Thank you for this hidden gem in the Lake District! The cottage was so clean and comfy and all the facilities we needed for our 18 month old son were in place. The Village of Great Salkeld is lovely and peaceful and the lakes are right on your doorstep! Our son enjoyed the freedom of running around and we wish we could stay longer as it has been so relaxing. We will definitely be recommending this place to family and friends and we have already decided we will be coming back! Thank you again. L, A & M T Edinburgh (ref: Mickledale July 2011)
We enjoyed our stay in Mickledale Cottage very much. The Lake District has a rather splendid landscape. The weather was (mostly) fine, and we visited most of the lakes. U H & R L Germany (ref: Mickledale July 2011)
We have had a super 4 days. The cottage is ideal - "We have slept better here than at home"! Enjoyed Ullswater Steamers, Acorn Bank and visited Keswick. Hope to visit again in the near future. Many thanks. A - A & C W Derby (ref: Windale July 2011)
Lovely stay with weather as varied as the scenery. First few days we were kept warm by the excellent Woodburner, the last few days the weather turned hot 25 C. We caught some fish in the Eden and are heading home very happy. J&J C Stroud (ref: Garth June 2011)
Cottage beautiful and clean. Surroundings are lovely and feel safe. The pool in Lazonby is a great play for my child and the Drove Pub has a great atmosphere and fantastic food. Would definitely recommend the cottage to friends and will definitely be back. Had a fantastic time. JB Clitheroe (ref: Garth May 2011) (Thank you, for your booking for 2012 - John)
Thanks for yet another brilliant stay. Ideal for trips into the Lakes, we have both enjoyed visiting Keswick and Ambleside. Found Cranstons Food Hall in Penrith worth a visit. We hope to return to visit the cottages again. R&S S Yorkshire (ref: Windale May 2011)
Thanks for a great time. We were very pleased with the cottages and service received. Will be back soon we hope. Fingers crossed the weather will be more on our side!

An amazing relaxing break. We both got away from the stresss and strains of work. John was so helpful with everything, especially the walks he suggested and the maps he provided, which gave us the opportunity to see some really breath taking views of the area. Will be recommending the cottage to family and friends. Can't wait to come back again.

Stayed at Wetheral Cottages many times and we love it! Nice to be back in Mickledale again for 3rd (or 4th,) time? Peaceful and comfortable- love the new shower.
