Great Salkeld

Great Salkeld is a delightful picture postcard village with its red sandstone cottages clustered around St Cuthbert's Church and the village green.

The village inn the Highland Drove enjoys a reputation locally for real ale and quality food (booking for evening meals is essential to avoid disappointment).

Lazonby which is 2 miles away has a well-stocked village Co-op/general store which sells a wide range of groceries, haberdashery and fresh bread from the local bakery. The village also has an open-air swimming pool which is very popular in the summer.

Petrol is available locally at Lazonby or Langwathby (3.5 miles) during normal working hours and Penrith (24 hours)
