Cumbria Holiday Cottages Info | Cumbria Holiday Cottages

Each cottage has a warm, cosy atmosphere, which reflects the considerable thought that has gone in to giving the properties their individual charm and character. Fitted carpets, tasteful decoration, colourful fabrics and quality furnishings give each cottage a warm homely feel. All have full central heating, Digital TV (Freeview) CD/DVD player and Wifi, also electric log effect fires for ease of use (except Garth which has a wood burning stove). Cots and High Chairs are available free of charge.

But, of course, the other essentials of a comfortable stay have not been forgotten. Each kitchen is very well appointed with a cooker, microwave, and fridge. Garth also has a dishwasher. We've also provided a comprehensive range of other equipment to help make cooking and eating more enjoyable.

Other facilities include: a small laundry room with automatic washing machine and tumble drier, lockable store for cycles, and car parking.

Please note: The cottages are non-smoking and we are unable to accept animals.

The gardens are well maintained and lead to a small paddock adjacent to the cottages which provides space for play or adventure within the grounds. The Village Playground (100yds) offers swings, junior assault course as well as hard and grassed areas for ball games. The Highland Drove (100yds) serves good food (see Testimonials) plus a good selection of ales and is an excellent retreat to enjoy a local atmosphere or a game of pool, darts or dominoes.

  • Thanks John & Linda for another relaxing week in Windale. Found a nice circular walk from Armathwaite via Ainstable - about 6 miles. Still lots of great eating places. Special award to the Apple Pie in Ambleside for the best Cornish Pasties. Hope to be back soon. • What a lovely gem of a cottage! Everything you need to make a comfy holiday – thanks so much for the lovely Fudge. Children loved the play areas. For children can recommend: Pencil Museum in Keswick and Beatrix Potter in Bowness on Windermere. We’d love to come back some day – so much more to explore.

  • Our first holiday at Lake District. We love the wonderful, peaceful area. It's lovely. We enjoyed our stay in your comfortable and cosy cottage. We had all the things we needeed and the children loved the garden. Thank you very much. S & E E and Family Germany (Ref: High Croft May 2013)

  • Yet again a wonderful stay at one of your cottages. Peaceful surroundings really enhance the stay. Enjoyed the local scenery as well as the lakes and had a nice drink with the locals in the village pub, The Highland Drove. Can't beat the wood burning stove on a chilly night. Wonderful quality cottage, details really thought of. Can't wait to return. Thank you. S & A S and D & M P Newport (Ref: Garth May 2013)

  • Cosy, warm cottage - perfect for our day of rest - due to the torrential downpour one day. Quiet and peaceful spot to explore from Hadrian's Wall to the Lake District. John was an excellent and helpful host. J & G E. Florida USA. (Ref: Mickledale May 2013)

  • Well, it’s taken us 13 years to get here and great to see John and Linda again, as we are two old*** customers from their days at The Ravensworth Hotel in Keswick! We knew that the standard would be excellent and scrupulously clean. Thanks for a great stay – lovely peaceful location, lovely comfy property. It will not be another 13 years before you see us again! J & D S Leeds (Ref: Mickledale Cottage August 2013) *** I think the writer should have used the word "ex" not "old" as J & D are by no means old! Good to see you both again John & Linda
